The “DROMEAS” that arrived from Serres at the European Commission

Operating in rural Greece is considered by many to be a disadvantage and an obstacle to a company’s growth and recognition. This is not the case with Dromeas, which, based in Serres and under the guidance of the Papapanagiotou family, has managed to become one of the leaders in its sector at a European level and to export to the most demanding markets in the world. The company was founded in 1979 with the aim of manufacturing caravans. Between 1985 and 1987, anticipating enormous prospects, it turned its attention to the production of office furniture. It invested in buildings and mechanical equipment and created its first showroom in Thessaloniki. A few years later, it expanded to Athens and opened its first store.

 

The company quickly gained a reputation for its high aesthetics and product quality and, in a relatively short period of time, undertook important projects, such as furnishing all the commercial stores of the administrative services of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE).

 

Ραγδαία ανάπτυξη

Στη δεκαετία του 1990, η εταιρεία επιδίδεται σε σειρά επενδύσεων σε παραγωγικές εγκαταστάσεις και εξοπλισμό και θέτει τις βάσεις για την πλήρη καθετοποίηση της παραγωγικής διαδικασίας. Αγοράζει μηχανήματα για την παραγωγή καθισμάτων, την κατεργασία ξύλου και μετάλλου και εξοπλίζεται με τελευταίας γενιάς laser για την κοπή μετάλλου σύνθετων κομματιών και την αυτόνομη βαφή επιφανειών. Παράλληλα προσθέτει δύο νέα καταστήματα σε Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη και κάνει το μεγάλο βήμα στο εξωτερικό, λειτουργώντας κατάστημα στη Σόφια της Βουλγαρίας.

Το 2000 εισάγει τις μετοχές της στο χρηματιστήριο Αθηνών και εξαγγέλλει τριετές επενδυτικό πρόγραμμα ύψους 30εκ. ευρώ, το οποίο αφορά στην κατασκευή μονάδας χύτευσης και κατεργασίας αλουμινίου, στη δημιουργία αποθηκών πρώτων υλών και έτοιμων προϊόντων. Το 2003, εισέρχεται στο νεανικό έπιπλο και το 2005 διεισδύει στον κλάδο των επίπλων κουζίνας. Προηγουμένως, ιδρύει την θυγατρική εταιρεία «ΚΕΜ» για την κατασκευή καλουπιών και συστήνει στη Βουλγαρία τη Dromeas BG EAD με αντικείμενο την εμπορία επίπλων γραφείου.
